Getting started
Which course should I start with?
If you are new to our academy, start with Sanitation, Infection Control & Client Safety. It is the foundation every other course builds on and a common renewal topic. If you already work with devices, choose the modality you use most: Advanced Aesthetic & Laser Focus for an overview of energy-based treatments, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for photorejuvenation, or the Advanced Laser Hair Removal Course for hair reduction.
Who are these courses for?
Our courses are designed for licensed estheticians, cosmetologists, laser technicians, permanent makeup artists and other beauty and wellness professionals in the United States who want practical, clinical-level knowledge.
Do I need a license to enroll?
Anyone can enroll and learn, but the advanced device courses assume basic esthetics training. Performing laser, IPL or RF treatments on clients is regulated by each state, so always follow your state board's scope-of-practice rules.
Becoming and growing as an esthetician
How long does it take to become an esthetician?
Most U.S. states require 600 hours of esthetics training, with a range of roughly 260 to 1,000 hours depending on the state. Full-time students typically finish in 4 to 6 months, part-time students in 8 to 12 months, followed by the state written and practical exams.
How much experience do I need to teach esthetics?
Requirements vary by state. Many states ask for an active esthetician license, one to three years of hands-on experience, and a separate instructor license that includes additional instructor training hours (often 300 to 750) and an exam. Check your state board for exact rules.
Do your courses count toward continuing education hours?
Our courses provide a Certificate of Completion for your professional records. Whether a course counts toward renewal hours depends on your state board, so confirm acceptance with your board before enrolling. See our blog article on 2026 continuing education requirements by state.
Access, exams and certificates
How long do I have access to a course?
Every course includes 90 days of access from the date of purchase. You can rewatch lessons as many times as you like. When access ends you can extend it for another 90 days for 50% of the course price.
What score do I need to pass the final exam?
The final exam passing score is 40%. Once you pass, you can download your Certificate of Completion right away.
Can I study on my phone?
Yes. Lessons, narration, PDFs and quizzes work on phones, tablets and computers.
